What Can Be Treated With Acupuncture?

The National Institutes for Health and the World Health Organization recognize the validity of acupuncture, and endorse the use of acupuncture for a number of conditions. Acupuncture is often combined with Chinese herbal medicine to provide the greatest effect.
Muscular and skeletal conditions: Pain or restriction in any of the following areas: back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. Also, sports injuries and conditions such as fibromyalgia.
Headaches: Tension, migraines.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Up to 20% of the U.S. population suffers with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, including a large number of my patients.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterized by abdominal pain and altered bowel habits. The altered bowel habits include diarrhea and/or constipation — sometimes alternating. Also commonly present are abdominal pain and distention, as well as bloating, gas, and mucous in the stool.
